Word Cloud Real Estate

The Centre for Real Estate is part of the Department of Economics and Management at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). It combines the research activities and educational programmes of the Institute of Sustainable Management of Housing and Real Estate (Prof. Lützkendorf) and the RICS/KIT Shared Professorship on Property Valuation and Sustainability (Prof. Lorenz).

Within the scientific structure of KIT, the Centre for Real Estate belongs to Division II: Informatics, Economics, and Society. It is dedicated to the KIT Focus Humans and Technology and its Multidisciplinary Issue Sustainable Development.

The main objective of the Centre for Real Estate is to integrate the principles of sustainable development into real estate research, education and professional practices. This is a contribution to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.

OEW proposals for COP26

Members of the chair actively contribute to the preparations of the COP26.

Proposals for the further actions were published in „buildings & cities“, which are directed towards participating organisations and countries. The proposals are based on own research results. The contributions dealing with (1) the cross-sectoral approach for the decarbonising of the built environment as well as (2) new models for an overal evaluation of greenhouse gas emissions on city-level. A combination of production- and consumption-based parameters is suggested here.
